In the recent past, River Hills has hosted two of the NGA Tours (now Swingthought.com). Upwards of 50% of the young people on the PGA Tour have played at River Hills at some point during one of the NGA Tours golf tournaments. Notable among them are Kevin Streelman, Ted Potter, Tommy “Two-Gloves” Gainey (who has played at River Hills often), and Chip Deason – who holds the course record at 62.
Last year, River Hills hosted the Folds of Honor Foundation’s Wounded Warriors Tournament. Folds of Honor is an organization that provides scholarships to military families who have lost a loved one in service to the country.
Every year, River Hills hosts the World Amateur Tournament as well as the Palmetto State Open, which is another NGA Swingthought.com tournament. In addition, many charities and churches count on River Hills to host their benefit golf tournaments.
